Quick 5: Guestbook Ideas

Signature Photo Frame

Signature Photo Frame

1)      a) Picture Frames

This is a very popular option.  Often you see one large photo frame at the entrance to the reception hall for guests to sign but there a many ways to work the signature photo frame.  Use smaller frames and have them double as table centerpieces that guests can sign once they are seated at their tables.  By using the smaller picture frames it’s also easier to repurpose them as décor around your new home.

b) Chalkboard

The chalkboard is a cool twist on the signature picture frame.  Now that you can get chalkboard paint in an array of colors it’s even easier to coordinate it with you theme and color palette.

2)      Photo book

If you don’t want to stray too far from the traditional guestbook idea, a photo book is a great option that will allow you to customize and personalize it.  There are many ways to tackle this, from using Picaboo or another software (I blogged about that option before – click here to read) or using a store bought scrapbook and prettying it up.

3)      Signature Vase

The signature vase is a great “doubler” (two purpose item) – - centerpiece and signatures.  I just love it when an item can serve two purposes; it stretches each dollar that much further.  The best thing about this option is that with the right pen, any vase can be a signature vase.

Now getting down to my two favorites, these are truly unique alternatives to the guestbook.

4)      River Rocks

You can use river rocks in many aspects of your wedding day decorating but using them as décor your guests can sign is not something you see often.  Find creative ways to display the rocks, like making a faux dry riverbed down the center of the table or just put them in a shallow vase.  This is another great item you can easily repurpose around your home and have a constant reminder of your wedding day.

5)      Calendar

Have guests sign a calendar filled with pictures of the two of you and throughout your first year together you will have a constant reminder of the beautiful day and warm wishes from friends and family.

The best thing about these alternatives to the traditional guestbook is being able to repurpose them, rather than they end up in a box in the basement/attic with.  I’ll be going over each option in a subsequent post to share with you how you can DIY these great guestbook alternatives so be sure to check in again soon.

does anybody know what type of pen to use for the signature vase?

Hi Lorraine, for the signature vase you would need a porcelain marker. A fine point permanent marker could also work, just be sure that it writes well on porcelain/ceramic/or whatever material your vase is.
