Recycling Items for Wedding Decor – Soda Cans

Mason Jars as Centerpieces
Mason jars are a very popular “recycling” option. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t have any mason jars hanging around the house so that wouldn’t quite qualify as a recycled item, for me at least. They do make great storage options AFTER the wedding. But in this post, and the ones that follow, I want to focus on items that you may already have around your home that could be used in some aspect of your wedding.

Recycled Soda Can Centerpieces (The Knot)
A very cool, creative idea I came across was to use soup/soda cans as centerpieces. A couple featured on The Knot, wrapped wall paper around soda cans and placed flowers in them and wah-lah! easy low cost centerpieces. To make it work, I imagine you would have to ensure that the edges are not sharp from the can opener – wouldn’t want any accidents. You would also have to put stones in the bottom, especially if using soda cans, to make it stable as the cans themselves are very light and can easily tip over from the weight of the flowers. Also, instead of using wallpaper, it may be easier to find a print that is to your liking in a fabric store. Just secure with double sided fabric tape and adorn with ribbons.
I really love this idea! I’m sure with just what’s in your pantry now you can create centerpieces for all your tables.
